Alexandra School principal Jeff Broomes is calling on teachers who staged strike action in January to work with him on an Easter programme to make up for lost time.
“I cannot mandate anybody to teach it  . . . but I welcome the involvement of teachers. Once they contact me, I will see where I can place them, and they’re being remunerated,” he said at an awards ceremony at the St Peter school yesterday.
The CXC Easter Academy, which runs April 3 to 13, is designed to assist students who lost teaching time during a three-week period in January when 30 teachers walked off the job protesting among other things Broomes’ management style. They remain adamant that he needs to be separated from the school.
Broomes said normally he would have coordinated English literature classes during the summer holiday with head of the English Department, Leslie Lett Jr, but because of the “challenges”, they would be in Easter this time around.
