EVEN BEFORE new telecoms entrant Karib Cable could complete its cabling across the island, it has been gobbled up by one of its competitors.
Columbus International, which operates under the brand name FLOW across the Caribbean, has signed an agreement to take over Karib Cable, the trading name of Kelcom International Limited, and some of its related companies.
The development came yesterday, eight months after Columbus flexed its muscles, taking over local telecoms player TeleBarbados.
According to a statement, the latest move represented “the fifth significant transaction and third acquisition entered into or completed by Columbus in the last 12 months as the company continues to scale its operations while transforming the telecommunications landscape and infrastructure in the region”.
