King burger!

THERE WERE LONG lines for burgers when international fast food restaurant Burger King opened its doors here for the first time last Saturday.

And yesterday there was a constant flow of people in and out of the restaurant located at Mall Internationale in Haggatt Hall, St Michael, as Barbadians took the opportunity to enjoy the traditional Burger King menu as well as the kind of chicken offered at other fast food restaurants.

“I was very excited to hear that Burger King was coming to Barbados. So I tried to get here as early as possible right after I left church. I will be coming here quite often,” said Andrew Gill.

His friend Zachary Cook added: “I like the size of the portions. I can’t wait for the branch in town to come.”

Operations manager Antoinette Grazette-Miller said management had anticipated exceptional traffic when the restaurant’s drive-through became operational earlier in the week.

“We recognize that the market needs another option and we will be providing just that with our second branch, which will be opening . . . in a few months in Bridgetown,” she said. (AH)

Bajans should be protesting the arrival of these fast food burger chains arriving in Bim. This makes me sad not least because their are plenty local people who are capable of providing other healthier options whilst benefiting financially if given the proper support to develop their business; also just wait and see the morbidly obese levels soar amongst the young people in the years to come. Be careful what you wish fuh!

That fast food is nothing but arterial plugs and a source of inflammation to the body.
Burger King is not the way to healthy eating.

Posted by Desarie Hope 2 months, 2 weeks ago: Of all the crappy North American fast food chains....I live in Toronto and never go to Burger King, for sure won't be going there when I go home to Barbados. Bajans will be sorry when their children get fatter and lazier. Overpriced, unhealthy and frankly a poor tasting burger. Shame on Barbados for allowing this to happen!

As for comments outlining how "sad" certain posters are that we opened our doors to an American business when we have so many talented Bajans here - ask yourself why those talented Bajans didn't step up and start an enterprise! I would say that it may be because they are too fat and lazy to do so - but that would be controversial.
