Dropped as cricket captain, and now dropped back home.
A few hours before hitting the field at the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad, Barbados’ chances in the NAGICO Super50 tournament took a big hit when former captain Kirk Edwards was sent home for disciplinary reasons.
A tight-lipped Edwards returned just before 5 p.m. yesterday on a LIAT flight, his future with Barbados and the West Indies probably hanging in the balance. When pressed for a comment at Grantley Adams International Airport, a terse Edwards replied: “They can’t say that I say, if I don’t say.”
Management of the team didn’t have much to add, apart from saying the tournament remained a priority.
“The guys in the team are really disappointed Kirk has been sent home,” manager Hartley Reid told the DAILY NATION in an interview yesterday from the Hyatt Regency Hotel in the Trinidad and Tobago capital of Port of Spain.
