Kraigg, Bishoo left out

LACK OF confidence and conviction has cost teenage Barbadian opener Kraigg Brathwaite and Guyanese leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo places on the West Indies team to tour England next month for a three-Test series.
But the seam-friendly conditions in England have weighed heavily in the selection of Trinidadian fast bowler Shannon Gabriel, who along with left-handed Guyanese middle order batsman Assad Fudadin, are the only uncapped players in the 15-man squad named yesterday.
There is a recall for wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin, who replaces Carlton Baugh, while Marlon Samuels rejoins the team after missing the just ended Test series against Australia for a short stint in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
In explaining the omission of Brathwaite and Bishoo, chairman of  selectors Clyde Butts said both players would now be given an opportunity to regain their confidence in the upcoming West Indies “A” Team series against India in the Caribbean between May 30 and July 2.
