Kylah’s eye on law (GIRL NEXT DOOR)

Kylah’s eye on law (GIRL NEXT DOOR) (Risee Chaderton)

Kylah Hinds has big dreams and a good head on her shoulders that should certainly lead her to success.

The petite 18-year-old beauty says she is hoping to follow in the footsteps of her aunt and uncle who are both lawyers, but she is planning her path so she would rarely have to enter the courtroom.

“I want to practise family law and personal injury, but I can’t bring myself to aim for criminal law. I don’t like the idea of presenting in front of a crowd – I get nervous – and there is a lot of presenting with criminal law, so perhaps it is best to avoid that.”

Kylah says she discovered her love for law when she interned at her aunt’s practice last summer.

“I love reading and I found myself engrossed in the research and documentation. I knew then that this was what I wanted to be doing.”

She hopes to be at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus in September and thanks her mother for always encouraging her to follow her dreams.

In her spare time, Kylah can be found in the garden with her headphones on listening to Rick Ross and Meek Millz, and even a little Taylor Swift.

You can hardly be a good lawyer and be nervous, Kylah. I don't see how you can practice for example family law, yet avoid court. There are online courses like Dale Carnegie and local organisations/service clubs out there that will help you with your personal development, besides you already have some support. Best of luck.
