Lashley: More lights this year

THE ANNUAL Independence lighting ceremony will be expanded this year.
Following a fall-off in sponsorship for the programme, which affected the traditionally spectacular display in recent years, Minister of Culture Stephen Lashley announced last night that two new locations have come on board.
When the lights are switched on in The City, a spectacle will be happening simultaneously at the Speightstown Esplanade, St Peter and the new play park in Gall Hill, Christ Church.
“I hope that next year, more communities will come on board and light up their areas as well,” Lashley said.
