THE LACK OF lawyers practising criminal law is so dire that the island’s Chief Justice is thinking about making it a requirement for new attorneys to give of their time to legal aid.

Chief Justice Marston Gibson was speaking to the SATURDAY SUN after he welcomed 30 attorneys to the Barbados Bar yesterday.

Noting that from the time they entered law school, most students already knew the field they intended to pursue, Gibson dismissed the suggestion that lawyers were shying away from criminal law because of the money.

“One of the newly admitted attorneys this afternoon is an ACCA, so he is already an accountant,” the Chief Justice said.

Personally i think that he is barking up the wrong tree and is in for a fight. I would say to hom "Mr.CJ wheel and come again
