THE?LONG RUNNING DISPUTE between LIME?and the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU) is over.
General secretary of the BWU, Sir Roy Trotman, said yesterday, the two parties, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Freundel Stuart, agreed to a 12 per cent increase compounded with the agreement now extending to March 31, 2013.
Sir Roy confirmed that LIME kept its promise and wrote the Prime Minister last Friday night and had agreed “along  the lines to what was discussed” by the two parties in a marathon session that spanned more than 10 hours on the night of March 27 into the wee hours of the next day.
He made it clear that it would fall on the Prime Minister to provide the details of the agreement.
“This is an exceptional situation and we agreed in those circumstances that we would be talking about 12 per cent compounded. The figures broken down you will hear from the Prime Minister,” Sir Roy said.
LIME?has already agreed to a 19 per cent increase over three years in Jamaica and a 13 per cent increase over the same period in St Vincent.
The Prime Minister is expected to make a full disclosure on the agreement in the next few days. (MK)
