The Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU), telecommunications company LIME and Minister of Labour Dr Esther Byer-Suckoo are to meet on Monday in an effort to resolve stalled wages negotiations.
Sir Roy Trotman, general secretary of the BWU, earlier this week, had expressed his dissatisfaction with the length of time it has taken to bring the parties to the negotiating table.
He told the MIDWEEK NATION yesterday that he got word of the meeting after speaking to Permanent Secretary Winston Cox in the Ministry of Labour.
“Following consultations between himself [Cox] and [Byer-Suckoo], he advised me that next week Monday there will be a meeting. I understand the minister will meet the parties separately and [then] we will meet with her together,” Sir Roy said.
