LIME looking to region for CEO

Cable & Wireless (Barbados) is set to hire a foreigner to be its new chief executive officer following the departure of Alex McDonald from the telecommunications company.
Sir Allan Fields, chairman of the telecoms giant which trades as LIME in the Caribbean, told the MIDWEEK NATION that after advertising the position locally, Cable & Wireless could “not find a suitable” person here that fitted the company’s requirements.
Sir Allan said C&W “was doing things by the book” when it came to finding a new chief executive officer and so it was applying to the Chief Immigration Officer to have the position filled by a non-national.
In this connection, anyone who had an objection to the C&W plan now had less than 14 days to file a complaint with Chief Immigration Officer.
“[LIME] advertised it three or four times . . . . They had no suitable applicants and they are applying for a work permit because they have to search further afield for somebody with experience not only as a CEO but experience in the telecoms field,” the longtime business executive pointed out.
