Telecommunications giant LIME suffered disruption yesterday when more than 50 employees reportedly stayed off the job, forcing the company to close two of its four stores.
LIME was forced to shut its outlets at Sheraton Centre in Christ Church and Warrens in St Michael after dozens of employees called in sick.When contacted last night, LIME’s managing director Alex McDonald said he was not in a position to comment on the matter.
However, corporate communications spokeswoman Sonji Phillips confirmed that yesterday’s action had negatively affected LIME’s customer service and finance departments.
She said LIME?had made arrangements to ensure that its headquarters in Windsor Lodge and at Carlisle House were effectively manned and not affected.
It was not immediately clear what triggered the no-show. However, it comes amid an ongoing stalemate in wage negotiations between management and the workers’ bargaining agents, the Barbados Workers Union. (MK)
