In a?dramatic turn of cricketing events on the final day, defending champions CGI Maple recorded a resounding and astonishing eight-wicket victory over Massy Stores Spartan on the final day of the fifth series LIME?Elite cricket match, yesterday.
Led by off-spinners Renaldo Parris and Ramon Greaves, they managed to dismiss Spartan for a paltry 62 off 31.3 overs.
No one would have expected this result as Spartan resumed on five without loss overnight and seemed comfortably placed at 31 for two.
But after Greaves, who had opened the bowling Saturday and Parris, who was the fifth bowler introduced, things changed dramatically with the pair ripping through the middle order.
Parris eventually finished with five for seven off six immaculate overs and was well supported by Greaves, who took four for 22 off 16.3 overs.
Set a meagre 74 for victory, Maple achieved the target for the loss of two wickets.
Parris again proved to the thorn in Spartan’s side as he opened the innings and scored 36 not out.
