Philip Field was totally in control of his emotions when he was handed a cheque today for $8 560 000 – the biggest ever payout in lotto history in Barbados.
“Is this for me?” the Super Millionaire jokingly asked as lottery officials presented him with the oversize cheque at the Barbados Lottery Office at Independence Square.
With a broad grin on his face he quipped: “Do You know how much stress this has given me”.
The 59 year-old man, who resides in Christ Church, became the first Barbadian to win the Super Lotto which is played in Barbados and six other Eastern Caribbean countries.
Field did not disclose much information to the media, saying he still had not yet decided what he was going to do with the millions he had won.
He said he only realized he had the winning ticket when he saw the advertisement in the newspaper the day after the draw indicating that someone had won.
