Former Barbados Coroner Faith Marshall-Harris has suggested the absence of breathalyser testing in Barbados may have impaired verdicts in cases where there were strong indications death may have resulted from the actions of a drunk driver.
As a result she has joined forces with the National Council for the Prevention of Alcoholism and Drug Dependency (NCPADD) in calling on Government for speedy action to enact long-awaited legislation for breathalyser testing.
“One of the frustrations that I experienced is that as you reviewed the statements, you knew, you sensed that these accidents occurred because of drunk driving . . . ,” Marshall-Harris said.
