More leave for Broomes

More leave for Broomes Jeff Broomes. (FP)

Fri, January 25, 2013 - 12:11 AM

Principal Jeff Broomes, reassigned from the Alexandra School to Parkinson Memorial School, will not be there today.

Broomes has been out on certified leave before the start of the term, and deputy principal Maxine Mayers has assumed responsibility for the running of the school in the interim.

Minister of Education Ronald Jones had said Broomes would have been out until yesterday.

Broomes said he was “resting” when the WEEKEND NATION checked in with him yesterday, and he expressed surprise that the ministry had given such a date. (YB)

Just asking, can this be considered as not teaching? Is the fraternity experiencing a divide and the Ministry is finally looking at the insubordination of Principal Broomes? Will Minister Jones be willing to put his pride and predjudice behind, and let the education of the youth be the priority of the ministry? There are many questions. the people of barbados deserves honest answers.

The annual sick leave alloted to civil servants will be expended by Mr Broomes shortly (if it hasn't already). As far as I recall continuous sick leave beyond that pertains to serious and longterm illnesses and continued pay is at the determination of the Public Service Administration? The question is whether Mr Broomes is ill enough to merit such.
Rest well, Mr Broomes, NIS is always an alternative.
