Motion deemed “unpatriotic”

ST.GEORGE’S, Grenada - Prime Minister Tillman Thomas has accused the main opposition New National Party (NNP) of instigating a new vote of no confidence filed by government backbencher Karl Hood in his administration.

In an 11-minute broadcast last night, Thomas described the motion as “unpatriotic, reckless and self-serving” adding that it comes at a time when the country is poised for economic take-off.

The embattled Grenadian leader insisted that the NNP headed by former prime minister Dr Keith Mitchell “unmistakably inspired” the motion that was filed by Hood last Friday.

“In the circumstances, this latest motion is a blatant act of disobedience and dishonour; it is highly unpatriotic, reckless, self-serving and disrespectful of the people of Grenada.

“This second motion in three months is unmistakably inspired by the NNP. It is not only intended to deny Grenadians their joy and peace, but it is also motivated by spite and a determination to pre-empt any improvement in our economic and financial fortunes,”  Thomas told nationals. (CMC)
