The Nation?Publishing Co. Limited yesterday lost one of its long-standing employees.
Jeffrey Rock, 52, who was a driver in the Editorial Department for more than 20 years, died at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) after a courageous battle with cancer.
A devout Christian, Rock was an active member in the Ebenezer Revival Centre in Medford Road, Whitehall, St Michael. He was also an avid cricket fan.
He joined the team at THE?NATION on May 5, 1988 where his job kept him constantly on the go shuttling reporters and photographers to and from assignments.
Chief Executive Officer and Publisher of the Nation Publishing Co. Vivian-Anne Gittens fondly remembered him as a model employee who gave of his best.
“Jeffrey was a very decent man and a dedicated and dependable worker, who was always willing to go the extra mile. He was a true believer in God with a never-ending faith; one who always encouraged others, in particular junior staff, to give 100 per cent.
“We will certainly miss him here at THE?NATION, and in this time of deep sorrow, we take comfort in the words of one of his favourite Bible passages, Proverbs 3:6 – ‘In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He will direct thy path’.
“On behalf of the entire NATION family, I wish to extend sincerest condolences to his loved ones.”
Rock leaves to mourn his devoted wife Juaniss and his beloved children Juanita and Jefferson. (CM)
