THE STANDARD of officiating at football matches is quite poor.
Too often, at the stadium, referees are taken to task for bad decisions.
What are the criteria for refereeing at the highest level? A lack of numbers should not be compromised for the quality of officiating. Only the best should be at the top.
Those who do not make the grade should be told so and made to wait until some improvement is seen.
Maybe a select few should compose an elite panel who should referee at Premier League games.
