USER FEES WILL not be introduced at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) “at this time”.
That is the word from Minister of Health John Boyce who was speaking to the DAILY NATION yesterday after a service to launch the 50th anniversary celebrations of the QEH at the Collymore Rock Church of The Nazarene.
“We’re not going to institute any user fees at this time. I can say that much,” Boyce said.
He declined to give any further details on the fees or any other changes at the QEH until the “appropriate time”. But he confirmed that Cabinet had considered some of the proposals and an announcement would be made shortly.
Boyce also added his voice to the issue of the abuse of the ambulance service, which was highlighted by head of the Emergency Ambulance Service Dr David Byer a few days ago. He urged people to stop using those “antics” and “pranks”.
