Mia Mottley is not the only Barbados Labour Party (BLP) member to have been snubbed this week.
Three days after Opposition Leader Owen Arthur turned down her request for a meeting, Arthur has himself been given the cold shoulder – this time by embattled St James North Member of Parliament Rawle Eastmond, who, according to party insiders, failed to show up for a meeting convened, at his request, by the BLP leader.
Well placed sources say Eastmond wrote to Arthur on Monday requesting an “urgent meeting” with him to discuss the BLP’s “medium and long-term prospects”. Sources also say Arthur responded immediately, fixing the meeting for 10 a.m. yesterday at the Office of the Leader of the Opposition.
When contacted by the DAILY NATION yesterday afternoon, Eastmond said: “I understand that Mr Arthur did expect to see me at some point today [yesterday], but I did not go and that is a fact.”
