NUPW: A slap in the face

AN AFFRONT to industrial relations in Barbados.
That is how president of the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW), Walter Maloney, has termed the treatment of Drainage Division workers who were “unceremoniously” dismissed from their jobs on December 31.
He said the union was sounding the warning that its “tail has been pulled” and it was not in “slumber”.
“We are not going to sit idly by and see the rights of persons trampled,” Maloney told a news conference at the NUPW’s Horatio Cooke Auditorium yesterday.
