Ralph Taylor, the man who built the Almond Resorts brand and exported it to St Lucia, has now become its biggest casualty.
Taylor, who owns more than a million shares in the quickly dissolving group of hotels, broke the news yesterday that he was resigning as president and CEO of the group after 17 years at its helm.
He is also expected to leave the board of directors of Almond Resorts Inc., a company listed on the Barbados Stock Exchange.
In severe financial stress and being kept open only through multimillion-dollar cash injections and bank guarantees from its parent company Neal & Massy of Trinidad and Tobago, the group’s flagship Almond Beach Village hotel will close its doors at monthend.
