LONDON – Almost 20 athletes from seven Caribbean nations will continue their quest for glory today, the first day of athletics at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The start lists have been announced for day one, and athletes from Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, The Bahamas, Guyana, Grenada, St Vincent and the Grenadines and Antigua & Barbuda will be in action from 5 a.m. Eastern Caribbean time.
And for many Caribbean people who have seen the medals going to other countries so far, the Olympic Games are finally starting.
First out will be Jamaican Dorian Scott in the men’s shot put. He has a season’s best of 20.72 metres and needs to throw at least 20.65 metres to reach the final or rank among the top 12.
