Operating above the law?

A WELL KNOWN businessman is constantly running from all the Government agencies that have been calling about money and incidents relating to his past and present staff members. When it’s not the popular office in Collymore Rock calling about payments made on employees’ behalf, it’s the other popular office in Warrens calling about rights of employees – and lately even law enforcement has been kept busy by this man’s doings.
Apparently, the law enforcement people have been to one company three times in the past few weeks. And all because employees have not been paid monies due to them after doing an entire two weeks of work.
Strike one was when a young man stood up for his rights and those of his colleagues when they were not given the monies that were signed off on. Strike two was when a young woman from the office got angry when the MD started to pick on her and gave him a taste of his own medicine.
Strike three was when the same young woman showed up at this popular business place once again with the law because she had not received monies owed to her or the official U3 Form.
Reports also indicated that the businessman was caught on tape saying that “wunna could lock me up now, ’cause I ain’t giving she nothing”.
Three strikes and he is still not out; seems they can only investigate certain people.
Funny enough, the one department that brings in the revenue for this businessman is the department that is operating with a skeleton staff.
The question everyone is asking is what makes a broke businessman continue to have so much power that nobody seems to be able to dish out the punishment he deserves?
THE WORD around Town is that the brown-skinned divorced woman with the false eyelashes and nails and silicone derriere has hit rock bottom.
She no longer has the store she was sharing with her friend because she could not pay the rent. These days she is seen selling from a suitcase around town.
It seems that she has also given up her weekend thrill of heading out to the nightclubs to show off her brand name clothes; and the high-end salons are a thing of the past – she is now getting her false extensions done on a friend’s patio.
Her friends are calling her a fool for letting the young man who works in the airline industry pull her down. Now she is catching minibuses and she may even have to pull her child from private school.
Who would have thought this once glamorous high-flyer would come to this? Even her wrinkles are beginning to show from lack of Botox treatment.
When she was riding high she would curse and laugh at the less fortunate. Guess who’s laughing now?
PARENTS AT a St Michael primary school are giving the teachers a failing grade on their report cards.
Apparently, the parents are upset and concerned that the school has lost the once high position it held in the Common Entrance Exam.
It has become so apparent that many parents have already pulled their children out of one of the class fours and more are contemplating leaving. With the all-important exam just around the corner, parents are beginning to worry about their children’s future.
Apparently, one of the important denominators in this scenario is always away from school and even when she is there she’s never at her desk. The children are hardly given homework and after-school lessons are few and far between.
