IN A DESPERATE ATTEMPT to get its student enrolment up and prevent any further dropouts, the University of the West Indies (UWI) Cave Hill Campus is now calling up students who have not registered for the new semester.

Moreover, the development comes as all classes in the Faculty of Humanities and Education have been put on hold until next week while the university scrambles to get more students in the classrooms for bachelor of arts degrees in linguistics, education, literatures in English, history, philosophy, theology, fine arts, Spanish and French.

Humanities and Education, which was once among the most heavily subscribed faculties, has been hit hard by reduced student enrolment since Government instituted its policy of tuition fees for Barbadian students at the UWI.

Sources close to the Cave Hill Campus told the MIDWEEK NATION yesterday that the decision to reach out to students was aimed at those who were going into their final year or only needed to complete a few courses in order to get their degrees.
