The proposed Ebola isolation centre at the Enmore Clinic at Collymore Rock, St Michael is causing a stir among some parents of children attending the Ursuline Convent, which houses St Angela’s and St Ursula’s schools.

According to reports, concerns have been raised about the close proximity of the unit which is located just feet away from the school, particularly the infant’s section, separated by a chain link fencing.

“We have been told that Ebola is not an airborne disease but I’m very uncomfortable with the health authorities placing the unit next to the school,” a concerned parent, who requested anonymity, told the SATURDAY SUN yesterday.

There were reportedly similar concerns echoed during a parent-teacher association (PTA) meeting held at the school’s premises on Thursday evening.

“I am very unhappy about it,” another parent said.

“If there was to be any suspected Ebola person or persons placed in the unit, I will really have to seriously consider moving my child,” the parent added.
