DESPITE?THE ECONOMIC CHALLENGES facing the country, the Congress of Trade Unions and Staff Associations of Barbados (CTUSAB)?will soon be seeking a pay increase for public workers.
Its president Cedric Murrell announced this yesterday during the 71st annual delegates conference of the Barbados Workers’ Union at Solidarity House in Harmony Hall, St Michael.
He told the gathering which included Minister of Labour Dr Esther Byer-Suckoo it was “extremely important” for the CTUSAB to pursue a new salaries and wages agreement “notwithstanding the challenges that we face”.
Pointing out that the last pay hike for public workers was in April, 2009, Murrell said that “public workers, like other workers, have seen increases in the cost of living”.
