PRIME MINISTER David Thompson left Barbados early yesterday for New York, according to sources.
The nature of the trip is unknown, but comes just over a week after his return from two months of medical treatment overseas. He returned to Barbados on Sunday, August 29, and was back at the helm of Government the next day. (TS)

Here it is reported that the
PM has left Barbados and it is not known why or what`s the reason. When he took the leave of absense due to his illness and the people of Barbados was interested in having a briefing about how he is doing, others were saying its none of their concern.
First I will say he was elected by the people and he
is no private citizen. If his
departure is about the country`s business,we should
know and if it`s to do with his illness or if he is seeking help from the NYPD for the tragedy, that should also be said. The article did not mention who is acting or how long he will be out of the country. I would believe that its none of the people`s concern either.

Comment LinkWhy is it that the county is not being informed as to the condition of it’s leader. In any other country full disclosure would have to be given as to the cause of the PM’s long absence. Why is it in Barbados we are happy to remain ignorant.

Comment LinkBarbados seems to be in the same situation as North Korea regarding the health of its leader.

Comment LinkIt is most un-Barbadian for people to be seen as pushing for details of someone else’s health.
It is equally un-Barbadian for the leader of our country to treat us like children when we inquire as is our right about the state of his health and his fitness to lead the country.
Mr. Thompson is not another person. He is the person we the people elected to guide the ship of state.
I wish him well but at the same time he has a duty to take us into his confidence. He is not a private citizen and if wishes to be treated as such by the Press and the country then perhaps he should resign and focus exclusively on his health.
No one is going to make me feel bad or ungracious about asking whether the Prime Minister is well enough to lead the country. In fact it is a tragedy that it should have come to this. I thought our political system and our politicians had matured enough to know that this is not how you treat these issues or the people.

Comment LinkDavid Thompson is human first, father, husband, son next and then prime minister. leave the man alone. if you all were ill, prime minister or otherwise, you would not want people prying into your business, so stop being hypocritical!!!!!!! the only thing u should be asking about is the happenings of barbados.
