SCHOOLS AROUND THE COUNTRY were given a blessing yesterday prior to the start of today’s school term.

Scores of Barbadians from several denominations gathered at the gates of secondary and primary schools to pray for students, teachers, parents and educational institutions.

From the Deighton Griffith School in the South to Alexandra in the North, people armed with draft prayers petitioned to the Lord for an end to violence, and guidance for the island’s schoolchildren.

Here, a group sending up prayers at the gate of Combermere School.
