Another Pro-Shottas footballer has been offered a scholarship and could be playing for an American university in August.
Pro-Shottas head coach Greg Castagne has confirmed that Zari Prescod has accepted an offer by John Brown University head coach John Miglarese and upon receipt of his local school’s transcripts, the former Barbados Under-17 striker will be signed.
Prescod will be the third Barbadian to obtain a scholarship to that university over the past three years.
Citing the recognition of the other two players, David Castagne and Andre Sandiford-Williams, as the main reason for Prescod’s recruitment, Castagne said the future was even brighter for other potential young Barbadian players with talent.
“Mr Miglarese says that as of next year he plans personally to visit Barbados to set up an ongoing scouting programme for Pro-Shottas and other talented Barbadian players,” Castagne reported.
“He thinks very highly of our players there presently and has admitted he was also impressed with the high praise Zari got from the coach David Batinovic at Chicago Magic Academy where Zari is presently.” (PR)
