A CALL IS BEING MADE to fully utilise the skills and talents of disabled persons, so as to allow them to enter the workforce.
Speaking during the opening ceremony of a preparation workshop hosted by the Barbados National Organisation of the Disabled (BARNOD) today at the NUPW’s Dalkeith headquarters, Damian Branford, Chief Financial Officer at Signia Financial said this was needed if they were to have a full and effective integration into society.
He admitted that while the challenging economic environment made this difficult, efforts had to be made to provide equal opportunities for people suffering with disabilities.
“It is imperative that we fully understand the skills and talents those in the disability community possess,” Branford said.
“This understanding will allow us to develop those talents to their greatest potential, to the mutual benefit of those individuals, the disability community and our nation.” (RB)
