PTA:Children not in fray
Tue, January 24, 2012 - 1:25 PM
The Alexandra School Parent Teacher Association has welcomed the return to classes of teachers from tomorrow, but took exemption to Prime Minister Freundel Stuart’s statement that they had involved their wards in the impasse.
In a statement last night, the PTA’s executive committee stated that they “take strong issue with the Prime Minister’s statement that we dragged our children into this ordeal ‘kicking and screaming’ . . . .
“The fact is the teachers dragged our children into this when they walked off the job. As a result of their actions, our children have been greatly disadvantaged.
“We are expecting a clear action plan from the Ministry of Education and/or the teachers as to how the lost hours will be recovered without undue stress.
“We recognise the need for healing and we intend to facilitate this process in every way we can,” the PTA statement said, while announcing a meeting will be held with all parents from 5 p.m. today at the school.
In welcoming back the 30-plus teachers who were on strike for 14 days, the PTA also thanked principal Jeff Broomes and the 22 teachers “who remained on the job to care for our children”. (SP)

There is a popular prayer asking for:serenity, courage and wisdom. Mr.Prime Minister you have demostrated those principles and more in this resolve.you have earned my continued support,I always had confidence that you could and would resolve this impasse.A scholar and gentleman you are, when you were selected to be second in command, we all knew that if it was ever neccessary, you would be a worthy leader. You have demostrated your worthiness, you gave the person who you entrusted to lead his chance to prove himself, Mr .Jones have failed miserably, the ministry of education has the future of our children, who in turn has the future of our country in their hands,We need to know that this department is well managed. concern.i truly believe that if this matter was handled in a timely matter they would be more winners and less losers, nows the time for healing . i would say this once more,
‘when you lead as you have done, there’s less need to rule.” YOU ARE A TRUE LEADER.

Comment LinkNelson mandella, rosa parks, bussa, malcolm x,martin luther king jr.and the list goes on.They all had to sacrifice to achieve what we can take for granted.its not that student’s intentions weren’t righteous and honourable, the fact was that their actions were contributing to continuing the action that caused this crisis in the first place. The minister of education had a responsibility from the onset of these differences. we all know its easier to put out a coal pot fire than a gas stove fire. what the prime minister did in less than a week,mr jones didn’t do in over two years. If anyone was to blame,it should be him.. now that we have made a fresh start lets not keep looking for a weapon to harm but find a tool to fix. and lets be assured that this doesn’t happen again
