QUEEN’S?COLLEGE?girls and Coleridge & Parry boys maintained their superiority in the Super Centre Schools’ Volleyball League to be crowned the champions at the Wildey Gymnasium on Thursday evening.
QC stopped Combermere in straight sets 25-20, 25-22 to take the crown without dropping a set. However, CP had to come from a set down to retain their title, eventually defeating QC boys 19-25, 25-22, 15-9.
Barbados Junior captain Ashley Marshall, who previously attended the Alleyne School, moved over to QC, boosting an already formidable team carrying height and skill to totally dominate the 2013-14 schools’ volleyball season.
With both boys’ teams carrying a number of the junior national players, QC faltered against the might of setter Kemar Hinds along with Atiba Best, Carlos Cyrus and Stephen Packer. The overuse of Adam Niles by QC led to their meltdown and allowed CP to repeat their last schools finals results over the same opponent. (KB)
