Lots of talent was on show last Tuesday afternoon as Queen’s College (QC) held a concert at the school hall in celebration of 130 years, with a number of past and present students giving their time and talent to entertain students and teachers who packed the hall.
Songbird Rhea Harewood got things off the ground with the Queen’s College Band, using her powerful voice to thrill the audience with the song Gotta Keep Your Head Up.
This performance made way for the all-male group G-Syndicate who have impressed audiences around Barbados whenever they performed.
These talented young men lifted the supportive crowd with a piece called Shut The Door Keep Out The Devil, Jumping Up To The Ceiling, and a love song – When I See Her Face – especially dedicated to a special teacher.
QC old scholar Rhesa Garnes also made her contribution in song, doing an original called Pick Yourself Up which reminded everyone that you may make make mistakes in life but must move on and start again.
This was followed by an Adele number, Set Fire To The Rain, that had many students singing along.
Former student Damien “Bo Bo” Bowen came onstage and stoked the crowd with Work Hard and Support Yuh Own. He also encouraged local radio stations to promote artistes by playing more of their music. Natalie Natahlee Burke did not disappoint her audience and had them on their feet.
Livvi Franc brought the curtain down with the love song Killing Me Softly, ending an afternoon full of talent produced by Queen’s College. (RL)
