For months, Rihanna has been linked to her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, amidst reports they are secretly dating.

And it looks like the singer is set to discuss her famous ex, who was convicted of assaulting Rihanna three years ago, in a new interview with Oprah Winfrey.

In preview clips of the upcoming TV special Oprah: The Next Chapter, Rihanna describes the fallout from the horrific night after a pre-Grammy party.

She said: “It was embarrassing it was humiliating . . . I lost my best friend.”

Oprah is then seen asking a series of probing questions concerning Rihanna’s past and present relationship with Brown, including “Do you think Chris Brown is a true love for you?” and “where does your relationship stand today?”

While producers are saving Rihanna’s answers for the actual episode, her replies managed to shock the talk show queen.

Oprah exclaims: “I would have never thought that. You just shocked me.”

In one of the promos ahead of the episode, Oprah, 58, reveals she had a pre-conceived idea of what to expect when she travelled to the singer’s home country of Barbados.

Childhood home

During the documentary, which was filmed on August 5, Rihanna went back to her childhood home in Westbury Road, St Michael.

Speaking to camera in the preview, Oprah said: “I went there with my own ideas about who she was from watching her videos and listening to her music.

“I thought she was gonna be kind of a bada**, a kind of hard edged, rocker, pop woman. Nothing could have been farther from the truth.”

Over clips of the interview and footage of Rihanna driving Oprah to visit her old neighbourhood, Oprah said: “She was thoughtful . . . . She was very emotional . . . . She was vulnerable.”

In brief segments from the one-to-one on the sofa done at Sandy Lane Hotel, Rihanna admitted: “I am super duper terrified of the pedestal that comes with fame. . . . It’s amazing how lonely you can feel.”

As well as crying, Rihanna also burst into laughter when Oprah commented on her frequent use of the F-word.

Rihanna’s appearance on Oprah’s OWN channel comes three years after the talk show queen made a public appeal to the singer to leave her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown.

Oprah spoke out a month after Rihanna was assaulted by the R&B singer, amidst rumours at the time they were still together.

The Rihanna interview will air on OWN on August 19. (Daily Mail)

To all those Barbadians you criticise the BTA and Government for the contract which they gave to Rhi Rhi for performing in Barbados and promoting our little paradise. Barbados will never be able to repay Rhi Rhi for this interview which she gave to Oprah. Millions and Millions of people around the world will see this interview telecast on Oprah's OWN network. There is no dollars amount the Government of Barbados will ever be able to attach to what Rhi Rhi has done for her Country and people. Rhi Rhi thank you from the CORE OF MY SOUL for loving our LITTLE ISLAND BARBADOS the way you do. We the people of Barbados will always be grateful to you. LOVE YOU DEAR. May God continue to bless and protect you. Keep on making great MUSIC and let the BIG BUCK CONTINUE TO FLOW IN. Just remember what BILL COSBY said to OPRAH when she started to make BIG BUCK. I will say it here to you, ONLY RHIANA SHOULD BE SIGNING RHIANA'S "CHECKS".

@ Harry Callahan, what mis-leading information are you feeding to Barbadians and Nationnews readers around the world. From reading your poor statement it is clear to me that you do not watch the OWN NETWORK. Oprah have had many famous men on her OWN NETWORK. You can check it out for yourself, especially two of my favourite spiritual people, Dr. Wayne Dyer and Depak. Oprah also introduce Dr.Phil and Dr. Oz to the world. I can go on and on, but I will not. Then again I might be too daft to comprehend what you are try to convey to the world. Have a great weekend people. Ah gone.
