DEAN OF THE Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus Dr Justin Robinson wants Barbadian entrepreneurs to move beyond the concept of small business and begin thinking big.
He believes this era of technological and socioeconomic change offers opportunities for entrepreneurs to be innovative and to create bigger business ventures.
“We have tended to equate entrepreneurship with small businesses or being self-employed. We need those but we also need the big, innovative aspect of entrepreneurship,” Robinson said as he welcomed the introduction of a new Masters in Entrepreneurship and Innovation programme launched at the Cave Hill School of Business (CHSOB) yesterday.
He said the CHSOB addition to the curriculum as well as a Job Opportunity for Business Scale-Up (JOBS) programme, also being offered by the School of Business, were key elements in the university’s drive to get more graduates ready for the job market. (GC)
