Seniors have their day

This is their Olympic Games.
And nothing, absolutely nothing, can take that away.
Almost 300 Barbadian senior citizens had their day in the shadow today with another successful staging of the National Senior Games.
The skies were grey and there was a constant threat of rain long before the event’s 9 a.m. start at the National Stadium, but 289 seniors, a new record number of athletes in the 11th version of the event, still brought their ‘A’ games to the Waterford, St Michael venue.
Minister of Social Care Steve Blackett said the Games remained the perfect opportunity for the elderly to not only keep their competitive spirit alive, but also do so in the friendliest of environments. (BA)
