NOT?EVEN?an assurance of payment from management at the Transport Board could bring comfort to angry retrenched workers who turned up at its headquarters yesterday morning, unannounced, demanding severance.
General manager Sandra Forde, accompanied by chairman Anthony Wiltshire and corporate communications officer Lynda Holder, spoke to the upset group almost two hours after they marched onto the compound at Weymouth, St Michael, vociferously demanding their money, saying it was long overdue.
Forde apologised for keeping them waiting, pointing out that she was in discussion with Minister of Transport and Works Michael Lashley about the matter.
She assured them that some of their severance would be available on August 29 and that the Human Resources Department would contact them individually to inform when to collect their cheques.
