Sixteen-year-old Shonica Wharton’s fairy-tale year continues with her being chosen in the senior national netball team for the Americas Federation of Netball Associations (AFNA) Championships which will be held in Trinidad and Tobago from July 13 to 23.

Wharton, a goal shooter on the Garrison Secondary School’s Under-19 team, was part of the Barbados team which won the 2012 Caribbean Netball Association’s Jean Pierre Under-16 Competition. She was named top individual shooter for the second successive year and was also among the top 16 players.
