Sinckler:Things could be worse
Mon, June 18, 2012 - 6:35 PM
Though things are bad, Barbados is doing a lot better than several countries.
Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler made this point in a recent address during the opening ceremony of the Deacons Development Facility and Barbados Vocational Training Board’s (BVTB) Deacons Training Centre in Deacons Farm, St Michael.
“. . . We may have our challenges and we may have our struggles, but we are not doing badly ourselves in this environment,” he said.
“As minister of finance, I have a lot of strains on my shoulders [and] a lot of demands. We know that in this tough economic time all over the world people are struggling, that life is not easy, life can be very critical.
“Things are bad in Barbados but, trust me, they [could] be a lot worse. And I think we have to give God thanks that He has held us together in mind, spirit and body to be able to contribute to the society and that today our children can play at peace without an invading army to slaughter them, our people can live in peace,” said Sinckler.
