People and their development “arrested” the mind, heart and will of Sir Carlisle Burton said Reverend Von Watson, as he acknowledged the contribution of the late outstanding Barbadian public servant at his funeral service this morning.
Several distinguished Barbadians who had been associated with Sir Carlisle throughout his public service career were among the large congregation paying final respects at St Mary’s Anglican Church in Bridgetown.
There were also representatives from the Barbados Cricket Association, the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus, executives and members of the Barbados Association of Retired Persons of which he was considered a founding father and students and teachers from the nearby St Mary’s School which he generously supported.
They all turned out to bid farewell to a man of whom Reverend Watson said “people were at the core of his action” . . . “a people-centred man involved in touching people’s lives for the better”.
