Sir Roy’s caution

Sir Roy’s caution Sir Roy Trotman (Lennox Devonish)

Thu, November 01, 2012 - 7:54 PM

Labour leader Sir Roy Trotman is warning of a deterioration in labour and social relations on the island as the economic crisis takes further hold of the country.

Sir Roy, general secretary of the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU) and former head of the Congress of Trade Unions and Staff Associations said the situation would degenerate rapidly if there were mass layoffs in the country.

“Before we get to the industrial relations climate, the social climate would deteriorate so badly that I don’t think we would be able to control those social interface relationships which we now have,” he said earlier today during a Press conference at the union’s Solidarity House, St Michael headquarters. The B.W. U. (and other leading unions in our society), is an important factor in the life of this country. Sir Roy has lead the B.W.U. with great distinction, and one fervently hopes that this might continue. One also hopes that we shall all respect the primacy and the supremacy of the vox populii and it's elected parliament and government. No source of power and influence is greater and never to confuse this . Neil Kinnoch , and the over-acrching need for every entity that might have an influence upon our system of governena, power-broker, to respect the simple fact that our Government represents all of us collectively and individually, and that , at this very critical junction in our country's future. However, alyhough the CBC-8 excerpt I watched last evening came over A very important factor, capable of creating far-reaching consequences
