Soca Queen Alison Hinds had the “gals” rolling it and men and women going up and “down de road” on the dance floor at Ilaro Court Tuesday night as hundreds from Latin America and the Caribbean feted the night away.
Even heavy showers were not allowed to interrupt the party, first hyped with the performance of Kirk Brown doing both English and Spanish numbers. The appearance of Hinds afterwards threw the large crowd into a frenzy, with many people surging forward to dance to her sweet soca rhythms as the Spanish-speaking partygoers kept in step with their English-speaking counterparts.
With hands in the air, many men danced in rain-drenched jackets and the women moved to the rhythms, ignoring the wet dresses clinging to their bodies.
The party animals were largely participants in the 15th FOROMIC Symposium (the Spanish acronym for Inter-American Forum On MicroEnterprise) held in Barbados from October 1 to 3.
The Ilaro Court reception adopted an Oistins Bay Garden theme complete with Lexie’s Bar. (GC)
