It was music galore in the MQI/98.1 The One Soca Royale Sweet Soca Competition at Bushy Park.
Thousands of soca lovers from all walks of life who love to fete gathered and let loose.
The Sweet Soca competition got under way promptly at 3:45 p.m. and it was action from start to finish with Biggie Irie’s Mas, TC’s Whole Day, Mikey’s We Loose, Blood’s Dah Fah Lick Yah, Mr Dale’s Galore, Khiomal’s I Remember, Red Plastic Bag’s Feting and Li’l Rick’s Ah Like Muhself. But by the end of the competition around 5:30, three names were on everyone’s lips: Mikey, RPB and Li’l Rick.
Mikey pulled out all the stops and gave an excellent performance of We Loose. From the time the audience saw the huge red “L” onstage, they were fired up, ready and jumping up and down.
During his performance, Mikey released many white doves and filled the sky with red and gold balloons.
It was clear that he came with a plan. He had the entire crowd rocking and showing him “the sign”.
