What does it take to achieve business excellence?
Barbadian companies and other organisations interested in getting some new insight on this issue will soon have an opportunity to do so from a highly regarded international business consultant, professional motivator and executive coach John Spence.
The American is the specially invited guest speaker for the Barbados’ Best Employers 2014 awards luncheon. This was confirmed by Rosalind Jackson, managing director of BBE organisers Caribbean Catalyst Inc.
Spence, who will speak on the topic Achieving Business Excellence, has presented workshops, speeches, consulting, and executive coaching to more than 300 organisations worldwide, has also been a guest lecturer at more than 90 colleges and universities across the United States, and has run and owned a number of successful companies.
According to his bio, at the age of just 26, Spence was named chief executive officer (CEO) of an international Rockefeller foundation, overseeing projects in 20 countries and reporting directly to the chairman of the board, Winthrop P. Rockefeller III.
Three years later Inc. Magazine’s Zinc Online recognised him as one of America’s up and coming young business leaders.
He has twice been named by Trust Across America as one of the Top 100 Business Thought Leaders in America, in addition to being recognised by that organisation on their global list of the top 100 Thought Leaders in the area of “trustworthy business behaviour”.
Other recipients of this award include Virgin Group CEO Sir Richard Branson, Starbucks CEO, Howard Schultz, Zappos CEO, Tony Hsieh, acclaimed business consultant Ram Charan, internationally renowned author Thomas L. Friedman, and business authors Patrick Lencioni, Tom Peters, Rosabeth M. Kanter and Jim Kouzes. Spence has also been selected as a leading small business influencer in America along with Malcolm Gladwell, Seth Godin and Apple.
“John is also the author of Excellence By Design – The Six Key Characteristics Of Outstanding Leaders and Awesomely Simple – Essential Business Strategies For Turning Ideas Into Action.
Jackson told BARBADOS BUSINESS AUTHORITY that while Spence might not be a household name in Barbados, he was highly regarded internationally and what he had to say would be of great value to everyone involved in business in Barbados and elsewhere. (SC)
