Sanitation Service Authority (SSA) workers are under siege.
While on the job, they have been threatened with guns, knives, cutlasses, pieces of wood and anything that can be made into a weapon.
The attacks occur when the garbage collectors disturbed concealed illegal substances, according to reports.
The National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) made a call for surveillance cameras to be set up in certain areas yesterday after another employee was attacked while on duty.
Fitzgerald Moore, a lorry loader of Storey Gap, St Michael, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment after he was wounded on the head by a stone thrown by an unknown assailant.
The incident took place in Storey Gap.
