Storm watch off for Barbados
Sat, August 11, 2012 - 2:50 PM
The Tropical Storm watch for Barbados has been discontinued.
At 11 a.m. today, the Barbados Meteorological Services issued the final advisory on Tropical Depression #7 which at the time had degenerated into a tropical wave.
“An Air Force Hurricane Hunter aircraft investigating the depression was unable to locate a persistent and well-defined center of circulation. Hence the reason
for the down-grade of the system to a tropical wave. Meanwhile, analysis of satellite and radar imagery indicate that the center of the remnant low is about now passing 40 miles to the north of Barbados without much fanfare,” stated the weather bulletin.
Met officials noted, however, that the wave has the potential to generate pockets of moderate to heavy showers, scattered thunderstorms and occasional gusty winds across Barbados today and into tonight. (CM/PR)
