A St Michael parent is gravely concerned about bullying in schools.
Camille Straughn made her feelings known after her 15-year-old son suffered a laceration to the back of his neck as well as soft tissue injury to a muscle during an alleged assault at The Lester Vaughan School last Friday afternoon.
Straughn said her son, a fourth former, accused a schoolmate of placing a thin rope around his neck and pulling it until it was tight. This happened, he charged, because he refused to give up his lunch money.
Extremely upset, Straughn said she was actively exploring legal action against the perpetrator.
“[This] could have caused my son his life,” she said.
However, sources at the school explained that officials there treated the matter with seriousness from the moment they became aware and immeditely called in the police to investigate. (LK)
