EVERY YEAR, thousands of British and European visitors fly to Barbados and we give not a thought to the fact that they view Barbados as such a “must-do experience”, they are willing to take on eight hours in the skies to get here.
Many of them may endure long trips by car or train to the airport before they even get on a plane for their holiday on the island of their dreams.
Virgin Atlantic has been an important conduit for these British holiday seekers and the airline must not only make the trip a safe one, but they also make the long haul one that is not perceived as a burden.
The high number of repeat visitors to the island from the United Kingdom not only indicates that British tourists enjoy the Barbados experience but the flight here is one that’s not a major deterrent.
Is there a way to fly from Barbados for eight hours without going stark crazy before you reach the final destination in the historic and cosmopolitan city of London?
The team at Virgin says they have mastered the art of keeping visitors engaged and comfortable so that eight hours feel like a hop and a skip across the Atlantic.
If you are as lucky as I was this week to enjoy Virgin’s famed “Upper Class” service and stretch out on those herring bone-designed seats that convert easily to dreamy wonderland beds, then a trip to London should certainly be a must-do, just as the British perceive Barbados.
